Meet the Candidate

Family

Family

Born and raised in Fresno, California, I grew up in a blue collar home.  I moved to Atascadero on the Central Coast in 1988 with my wife and family, and then to American Canyon in 1994.  The kids are grown and have families of their own.  Cheryl and I still love living in American Canyon and want to make sure it remains "family friendly."

Experience and Education

Experience
As City Mgr.jpg

Public Service is not just my calling; it's what I was trained to do!  I have a college degree in Public Administration and over 30 years of experience in local government management, working in big cities and small, including 13 years here in American Canyon.

Starting my career in Fresno, I worked in management positions in Police, Public Works, Human Resources, and Parks.  I was the Finance Director for three cities:  Atascadero, American Canyon and Suisun City.

I was also American Canyon's City Manager from 1997 to 2006, and helped build the community we all enjoy today. This includes acquiring the open space (Wetlands and Newell) we all love and cherish; much of the retail and industrial development, and many of the public facilities, such as parks, schools and the Community Gym.

I once joked I retired early because I was too busy volunteering my time!
